Essie Snell has been focused on the art of close-up magic, particularly with cards, for over a decade and a half. Starting at the age of seven with a simple beginner's magic kit, he quickly decided that sleight of hand was much more interesting and impressive than the usual gimmicked tricks and has been practicing and perfecting his craft ever since. His commitment to magic was further cemented the following year when, during a trip to Las Vegas (the purpose of which was primarily to see other magicians), he was invited twice onto stage by Lance Burton at the Monte Carlo Hotel and once by Jeff McBride at Caesar's Palace.
Since that time, Essie has mastered sleights and effects beyond count. This knowledge base has enabled him to create much of his current repertoire from scratch in order to deliver unique and compelling pieces of magic.
Though primarily self-taught, Essie has also been fortunate to undergo more formalized training by the likes of Bob LaRue (current president of the Mile High Magicians Society in CO) and Jeff McBride (a world-famous magician currently headlining in Las Vegas; see above). In addition, Essie regularly participates in the annual Magic in the Rockies convention where nationally and internationally famous magicians gather to share effects, presentational tips and other ideas.
Essie's style is relaxed and sophisticated, with a strong focus on delivering effects that evoke true wonderment for everyone watching. Integrating top notch sleight-of-hand with a combination of psychology, misdirection and an engaging personality, Essie is a unique and talented performer who is able to entertain in virtually any environment.
Essie currently performs in the Boulder/Denver area of Colorado for a wide variety of private parties and corporate events.
